The flowchart presented in the picture shows the design process followed to develop a fuel cell CHP (Combined Heat & Power) system. Any product development should follow a ‘bottom up’ design strategy where end requirements are identified first followed by upstream design and modelling. Following this strategy will ensure that the end product developed meets all the desired requirements and functionalities. The artistic image clearly shows the depth required in modelling techniques at each stage of the development process. The same flowchart can also be adapted as a general framework for other design processes and products.
