The paper has three main objectives; first, to explore in more detail the properties of the OEF world model; second, to examine within the context of that model the process of structural adjustment in Europe since the establishment of the ERM and, third, to ask whether there are differences between the UK and the rest of Europe that might make the adjustment process to ERM membership difficult for the former. Differences in the housing market are highlighted.
