Two new cultures from the liverwort Jamesoniella autumnalis (DC.) Steph. collected at two different natural habitats, were initiated. Fresh weight increase was about eightfold within 80 days. Anastreptene 1 , β‐barbatene 2 , bicyclogermacrene 3 , β‐bisabolene 4 , α‐bisabolene 5 , spathulenol 6 and 3α‐acetoxybicyclogermacrene 7 were isolated from field collected material as well as from the in vitro cultures. The sesquiterpenoid pattern was compared, and it was found that in vitro cultures had almost the same composition—qualitatively and quantitatively—as the respective material from the natural habitats.
