Gas chromatographic analysis of the essential oil of Crithmum maritimum L. showed the presence of at least 57 compounds representing ca . 95% of the total oil. The main components were limonene (22.3%), γ‐terpinene (22.9%) and thymol methyl ether (25.5%). Compounds were identified through their GC retention times and MS data. The identification of thymol methyl ether was confirmed by NMR spectroscopy.
