The essential oils of Nepeta cataria L., N. x faassenii Bergm. ex Stearn, N. nepetella L., N. sibirica L. and N. nuda L., isolated by steam distillation, were analysed by GC and GC‐MS. The compositions of the oils were submitted to a cluster analysis by application of the CLUSTAN program, with a view to testing their use in chemotaxonomy.
