Extracts of cardamom (Ellettarie cardemomum Maton), cultivated in Costa Rica, have been analysed by GC‐MS on various columns. Among the 122 compounds found, 56 represent over 99% of the total volatile fraction, and 74 are reported for the first time. Their distribution is similar to that described in other samples of E. cardamomum, var, alpha‐minor, grown in other countries.
