Abstract The composition of the essential oil obtained from the dried aerial parts of Onosma microcarpum (Boraginaceae) was analysed by GC and GC–MS for the first time. Fifty components were identified in this oil, whose major constituents were thymol (24.1%), carvacrol (9.3%) and n ‐heptane (9.3%). Copyright © 2005 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
