Abstract The chemical composition of the essential oil obtained by hydrodistillation of fresh leaves of Clerodendrum buchholzii Gürke grown in Cameroon was investigated by GC–FID and GC–MS. The major compounds were benzaldehyde (96%) and octen‐3‐ol, which were also determined by the AEDA method as the key odourants of this sample. Copyright © 2004 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
