The essential oils from the leaves and roots of Asarum forbesii Maxim (Aristolochiaceae) were obtained by hydrodistillation and analysed by GC and GC–MS; 20 and 17 constituents were identied from the leaf and root oils, respectively. Methylisoeugenol (33.3%) and α ‐asarone (19.2%) were the main constituents in the leaf oil, while α ‐asarone (58.8%) and methyleugenol (10.3%) were the major constituents in the root oil.
