The leaf oil of Epaltes alata (compositae) has been analysed by GC and GC/MS and found to contain terpenic compounds with a majority of sesquiterpenes (85%) among which β ‐caryophyllene (24%), bicyclogermacrene (9.7%), α ‐selinene (7.7%) and spathulenol (8.9%) are the main components.
