The essential oils from the roots, leaves, stems and inorescences of Conyza bonariensis L. were investigated. A total of 17 constituents were identied by GC‐MS, including monoterpenes, acetylenes, sesquiterpenes and diterpenes. The major constituents were matricaria methyl ester (roots, 74.4%), limonene (leaves, 29.6%), manool (stems, 25.3%) and carvone (inorescences, 21.1%). Copyright © 2004 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
