Water‐distilled volatile oil from the aerial parts of Nepeta meyeri Benth. was analysed by a combination of GC and GC–MS. Eighteen components were identied, constitut approximately 99.3% of the oil. The main constituents of the essential oil were 4a α ‐7 α ‐7a β ‐nepetalactone (53.2%), 1,8‐cineole (29.3%) and camphor (4.1%). Copyright © 2004 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
