The composition of the essential oil of the leaves of Lippia adoensis Hochst. ex Walp. growing in Nigeria was determined by the use of GC and GC–MS. The leaf essential oil of L. adoensis predominantly comprised monoterpenoids (83.5%), of which linalool (26.1%), geraniol (19.0%) and 1,8‐cineole (17.4%) were the major constituents, while germacrene D (4.6%) was the main sesquiterpene identied in the oil.
