The essential oils from root bark of Rinorea subintegrifolia (Violaceae) and bark of Drypetes gossweileri (Euphorbiaceae) from Gabon were analysed by GC–FID and GC–MS. The oils were characterized by a high percentage of benzyl cyanide and a minor amount of terpenes (<1.5%). The antioxidant and the antiradical activity of both samples were evaluated.
