Water‐distilled oils of Achillea falcata L. collected from two different localities in Turkey were analysed by GC–MS. Fifty‐two and 60 components were identied, representing 95% and 90%, respectively, of the total oil. 1,8‐Cineole (14–24%), camphor (4–24%), α ‐pinene (2–12%) were characterized as the main constituents. The enantiomeric distribution of 1S(−) camphor was measured as 93.3% and 99.6% in the two oils, respectively. Copyright © 2003 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
