The examples of structure–odour analogy as described in the literature were followed to obtain new furan analogues of linalool and the products of its Claisen rearrangement. The odour characteristics for the new compounds are quite analogous to those for linalool and its derivatives. Copyright © 2002 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
