Aspidistra formosa Aver. & Tillich (Asparagaceae) from Northern Vietnam and adjacend China, Prov. Guangxi is shown to be synonymous to A. tonkinensis (Gagnep.) Wang & Lang. On the other hand, A. tonkinensis clearly differs from A. fungilliformis Wan from China, Guangxi with perigone tube cupulate, outside white (vs, campanulate, purple), and pistil table shaped, stigma discoid (vs. mushroom shaped, stigma hemispherical).
