Abstract Two new species, Agrimonia repens L. and Onopordum davisii Rech., are reported from the Schöningen 13 II site (middle Pleistocene). Both are elements of halophilous steppes and are recorded for the first time for the Pleistocene of Europe. This is the first fossil record of both species, highlighting the relevance of this finding with respect to the species chorology. (© 2009 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)
