Senecio joharchii (family Compositae) is introduced as a new species from NE Iran. It is endemic to Saluk National Park, Northern Khorassan province of NE Iran. Morphological evidence (perennial habit, entire leaves, epicalyx of many bracts, achenes with longitudinal ribs) supports taxonomic placement in Senecio sect. Crociseris . The species appears to be most closely related to S. paulsenii , as they are alike in perennial habit, entire leaves and flower colour, though they differ in indumentums, phyllaries and calycular bracts number, number and size of the flowers, and pappus length. Senecio paulsenii already is mentioned in Flora Iranica treatment for the province; and S. glaucus is recorded here for the first time. Thus the number species of Senecio in the province arise to three (© 2010 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)
