Stigma and pollen types are reviewed in eight species of genus Limonium by light and scanning microscopy. A careful examination of most Egyptian species of Limonium reveals that this genus is distinctly dimorphic in stigma and pollen types. On the basis of the stigma type and the exine pattern, two distinct pollen types are recognized viz., Pollen type‐A (comprises Limonium axillare and L. meyeri ) and Pollen type‐B (comprises the rest studied species of Limonium ). Description of each type, a key to the investigated taxa as well as LM and SEM micrographs of pollen grains are provided. (© 2006 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)
