A short review of morphological and anatomical differences between sun and shade leaves as well as some new data about morphological differences of recent sun and shade leaves are given. It is shown that at least at the moment, it is not possible to differentiate between fossil sun and shade leaves only by means of morphological parameters. Additionally, a short definition of the terms of sun and shade leaf is given.
