The new species described, Anthurium minarum S AKURAGUI & M AYO sp. nova, has long been known from montane habitats in the Brazilian states of Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo under the name Anthurium willdenowii . It is a characteristic species of the Brazilian campo rupestre vegetation in Minas Gerais.
