Audouinella quilonensis a new species belonging to the order Acrochaetiales (Rhodophyta) is described from Kerala. It differs from its congenera in its morphological characters as greater dimensions, basal system of well developed rhizoids and in having single type of monosporangia which are born solitary or in groups of two or four on laterals of limited growth. It reproduces only by monospores formed singly in sporangia.
