Eight taxonomically related taxa of the genus Lomelosia (Dipsacaceae) from Greece, had been examined for their fatty acid and sterol composition. Separation and identification of the lipid fraction was achieved by GC and GC‐MS. Moreover, these taxa were screened for their antibacterial properties against six of the most common Gram bacteria. The relation between chemical pattern and taxonomy is discussed.
