A comparative study of the anatomy of the flowers of eight species of Cedrela is detailed here. The flower is bisexual, pentamerous, tetracyclic and hypogynous. The sepals are 3‐traced and the petals and stamens are single traced. The antisepalous stamens are fertile. The antipetalous stamens are suppressed but their traces, however are demarcated and they terminate within the receptable. The carpels are 3‐traced and the placentation is anatomically parietal except in C. velloziana , where it is axile. On the basis of totality, of evidences it is suggested that Cedrela alone be included in the tribe Cedreleae (Meliaceae).
