Species relationships in genus Lens as indicated by electrophoresis—a reappraisal

The seed proteins of Lens culinaris subsp. culinaris, L. culinaris subsp. orientalis, L. culinaris subsp. odemensis, nigricans subsp. nigricans and L. nigricans subsp. ervoides were electrophoretically analyzed on SDS‐PAGE. The electrophoretic bands or characters were numerically analyzed using cluster analysis. It is found that L. culinaris subsp. orientalis and L. culinaris subsp. odemensis are probably the gene pool of the wild progenitor of L. culinaris subsp. culinaris .
