The distribution pattern of phenolic acids in 12 species of Phyllantheae is studied. The chemical data show a similarity between Flueggea microcarpa and the species of Phyllanthus. F. microcarpa and F. leucopyrus appear to be conspecific, but they are chemically different. The treatment of Bridelia and Cleistanthus in one group to the exclusion of Glochidion is supported.
