Abstract The petiole anatomy of the species of Sida was studied and compared. The presence of collateral vascular bundles arranged in a circle was found to be a common character within the genus. Moreover, the number of collateral bundles found in the species grouped the species of Sida into three. The anatomical characters of the petiole indicate close inter‐relationship within the genus.
