Seed morphology has been studied both under LM and SEM in 12 taxa of Tephrosia. The seed shape is oblong, reniform or orbicular and the colour pale yellow (with dark mottlings), yellowish brown, blackish brown or black. The surface texture is mostly smooth and the hilum median or submedian. The spermoderm pattern as observed under SEM is simple‐reticulate, multi‐reticulate or lophate. A key is presented for delimiting the taxa studied.
