An attempt has been made in this paper to compile a check‐list of the dicotyledonous plants in the flora of South Yemen on the basis of literature reports as well as several field trips to various localities in the country. In addition, herbarium collections available in the country were studied. In all 467 species belonging to 244 genera from 71 families are given in this check‐list. Further studies may reveal the occurrence of more species. It is hoped that this check‐list might serve as a step toward a comprehensive flora of South Yemen.
