Ageratum conyzoides L., and A. houstonianum Mill., are two exotic weeds completely naturalized in Indian subcontinent invading even the Himalaya. Both are easily confused for each other in herbaria as well as in the field. Reliable morphological characters to distinguish these two closely resembling taxa have been identified and illustrated to facilitate unmistaken determination. Also some observations have been made to Sahu's treatment of these two species with a caution to apply the numerical data to change the taxonomic status of any well established taxon, and instead to utilize the numerical methods in the analysis of evolutionary phenomena.
