Ilex shennongjiaensis sp. nov., one of the new highly ornamental taxa and germplasm introductions from the Shennongjia Forest District of Western Hubei, People's Republic of China, resulting from the Sino‐American Botanical Expedition to Western Hubei—1980, is described and distinguished from I. sugerokii , the species of closest affinity.
