The existing level of the knowledge about the tribus Bambuseae (Poaceae) is explained in detail. Essentially the authors rely on distribution, ecology, growth form, morphology of the inflorescence, anatomy and cytology of the taxa of Bamboos. Evolution trends within the relatives were shown and the till now existing proposals of classification were compared and discussed.
