The gross morphology of all the specimens contained in 21 of the most important herbaria have been studied and the obtained data were compiled in a retrieval computerized system. Classical descriptions and traditional keys for identification are provided as well as the geographical distribution of all the species. Localization in Cuba is given in several maps. Types and synonymy had been clarified. 35 taxa in 6 genera are recognized and 85 taxa in 9 genera are to be regarded as synonyms.
