The information of signal‐to‐noise ratio (SNR) plays an important role in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems. Some applications, such as cognitive radio, need non‐data‐aided (NDA) estimation of SNR. In this paper, we propose a robust NDA SNR estimation method, which is developed on the basis of the cyclic prefix of OFDM symbol. The proposed method is immune to the inter‐symbol interference caused by multipath channel and can thus obtain an unbiased estimate of the signal power even in the low‐SNR regime.
