A novel model for constant energy constellation (the data is drawn from equi‐energy symbols) discrete time orthogonal frequency‐division multiplexing (OFDM) signal is presented. On the basis of this model, the moments of the OFDM signal's envelope maximum and the moments of the energy of the clipped portion of the signal are computed. It is also shown that the rate at which the expected value of the maximum scales with the length of the signal coincides with Halasz's result. Simulations are presented, which show that this model gives much better results than the conventional Gaussian model in approximation of statistical properties of an OFDM signal.
