In this letter, cyclically prefixed cooperative wireless personal area network systems with partial best relay selection are studied. From the partial relay selection method, an upper bound on the achievable average rate is obtained. Moreover, an asymptotic outage diversity gain is also analysed at a high signal‐to‐noise ratio. Monte Carlo simulations verify the obtained achievable average rate and outage diversity. Copyright © 2011 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
