Many materials commonly used to collect and store samples for ambient toxicity testing will readily sorb and/or leach contaminants. Previous work indicates that Tedlar™ (polyvinylfluoride) sampling bags are largely inert toward organics; we report here that this material is similarly inert to Co 2+ , Cu 2+ , Zn 2+ , Sb 3+ , Pb 2+ , and Cd 2+ in neutral solution. We found no trace metal adsorption at low pH and only slight adsorption (mean loss = 2.1 ppb) at neutral pH from 100‐ppb solutions held in Tedlar bags for 24 h.
