Ratios of the gas transfer rate constants of oxygen to the haloforms CHC1 3 , CHC1 2 Br, CHC1Br 2 and CHBr 3 were measured and used to calculate an aqueous half‐life range for each compound. The calculated half‐lives suggest that production and release of haloforms as a result of chlorination of wastewater should not cause these materials to accumulate in the aquatic environment.
