Abstract Sixty‐six psychiatrists, psychologists, psychiatric nurses, psychiatric social workers, physicians and public nurses, treating eating disordered adults, adolescents and children in inpatient and outpatient units in the health services in Oslo have participated in a two‐year training programme. The programme is founded on: Six full‐day conferences with multiprofessional contributions to main issues in the treatment and diagnosis of anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa; organized supervisory groups meeting at a regular three‐week basis through the two years; individual supervision at need; and clinical psychiatric work with eating disordered patients. The effects of the programme are very positive, and demonstrate an increase in therapeutic activity and significant educational activity of the participants, who have become resource persons supervising other health professionals.
