The effect of aspect ratio and orientation of a non‐airconditioned building on its thermal performance has been analysed in terms of discomfort index for hot‐dry and composite climates. It is shown that the discomfort index for east‐west orientation is smaller than that for north‐south orientation but the difference even for the largest aspect ratio considered is not more than 10%.
