A thermal analysis of a passive regenerative solar still is presented for different configurations. Based on an energy balance for each component of the system, an analytical expression for thermal efficiency has been derived in terms of the design parameters. The theoretical results have been validated for special cases of the system. There is reasonable agreement between theoretical and experimental observations.
