The paper gives a discussion of the regulatory framework currently being used to limit nitrogen oxide (NO x ) emissions, with emphasis being placed on EC and UN measures. It then follows with a discussion of the procedures being adopted at present to control or limit these emissions. The topics discussed include combustion modification measures, new combustion technologies, flue gas treatment, selective catalytic reduction, selective noncatalytic reduction and combined SO x /NO x processes.
