This communication presents a derivation of an explicit expression for the periodic variation of thermal flux through a composite slab (insulation‐concrete‐insulation or concrete‐insulation‐concrete), with one face exposed to solar radiation and atmospheric air and the other face in contact with room air at constant temperature. It is seen that for maximum or minimum load levelling of the periodic heat flux the thicknesses of the outer layers of the composite slab are equal.
