I am not certain if the 39 authors included in Leading Colleges and Universities: Lessons from Higher Education Leaders would agree with Thomas Jefferson's assessment of the American presidency as “a splendid misery” if they applied his statement to a higher education presidency, but certainly the current challenges in higher education must at times make for some miserable days.
