BOSTON — Colleges and universities have made progress addressing race in the admissions process, but they have a long way to go. “Even as there is work to do, there is much to celebrate,” said Shannon Gundy, director of undergraduate admissions at the University of Maryland. Gundy, along with Art Coleman, co‐founder of EducationCounsel; and Jerry Lucido, executive director for the University of Southern California Center for Enrollment Research, Policy, and Practice, spoke at the annual conference for the National Association for College Admission Counseling in a session that explored the pitfalls and best practices in incorporating or maintaining race‐conscious admissions strategies.
