Since 2008, a great deal has been written about the impact of massive open online courses and their potential to disrupt higher education. Sebastian Thrun, co‐founder of Udacity, predicted MOOCs would eventually reduce the number of institutions to 10. Even the most ardent MOOC champions would acknowledge that there is little evidence today to suggest that prediction will become reality.
