Until recently, freshwater had to be used for “neutral washing” in the DNT production. Using the new process outlined in this communication, it is now possible to recycle process condensate from the concentration of sulfuric acid. No additional freshwater is needed and the effluent water stream to be treated is also correspondingly reduced. MNT and DNT are recovered and recycled to the production process. Losses are minimized.
