Nelumbo nucifera , also known as lotus, Indian lotus, Egyptian bean, is one of two extant species of aquatic plant in the family Nelumbonaceae. The seeds of lotus, which have good nutritional and health beneficial properties, are traditionally considered as medicine and food dual purposes stuff in China. Lotus flower not only has the deep meaning in Egyptology, Hinduism and Buddhism, also became the man of honour because of “Live in the silt but not imbrued”.
