Issue no. 8 is a special issue on “Electrochemistry in Microfluidics and Capillary Electrophoresis” consisting of 22 contributions that cover a wide spectrum of fundamentals and applications in the field. “Indeed the issue starts with two interesting reviews. The first review article critically evaluates selected combinations of electrochemical detection techniques among themselves and with others in order to give the readers an update on how to solve the analysis of complex samples. The second review describes electrokinetic techniques applied to electrochemical DNA biosensors. Then, the issue offers an important group of fundamental papers focusing on novel electrochemical detection modes/approaches, and study the fundamental principles of electrochemical detection in microfluidics and CE. In the second part, a significant group of application papers are presented exploiting electrochemical detection on CE and microfluidic platforms. In these papers the readers will find the use of nanomaterials as well as the well‐established conductivity and amperometry detection principles involving different applications focusing mostly on bioanalysis (DNA, proteins, plasma analysis). The special issue closes with essential contributions dealing with automation of electrophoresis systems and fuel cells. In addition, we are very pleased to present you with very fine articles on electrochemical detection in microfluidics in bioanalysis.” Featured articles include: Use of epoxy‐embedded electrodes to integrate electrochemical detection with microchip‐based analysis systems Asmira Selimovic, Alicia S.
